Thrift shopper paid $1.50 for purse; Cartier piece later valued at $35,000

A thrift-store shopper who paid just $1.50 for a clutch in 2018 or 2019 discovered years later that it was a rare Cartier Art Deco piece. During a 2026 "Antiques Roadshow" appraisal, experts identified precious stones, platinum and the Cartier name inside, valuing the purse at about $35,000, with an insurance value above $100,000.
