Punjab Kings teammate decodes change in Iyer’s hitting technique: ‘When Shreyas came at the start…’
Punjab Kings teammate Yuzvendra Chahal observed a shift in Shreyas Iyer's batting technique, noting he now accelerates after reaching his half-century. Previously, Iyer used to play the cut, but now comes across the pitch, offering options to the fielders. Chahal explained that when bowling to Iyer, he often had to aim wider, as the batsman would hit him over cover for a six.
However, nowadays, Iyer times the ball better, resulting in powerful shots. Former batting legend Sunil Gavaskar also praised Iyer's batting, highlighting his ability to read the bowler's mind and position himself effectively. Iyer's century was instrumental in India's eight-wicket victory over West Indies in a T20 match.
