People Won't Go Outside so I made this

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 1: Touch Grass What I Built GoSeek is a mobile scavenger hunt that gets you outside by giving you a riddle instead of an instruction. The problem I started with: if an app says "go outside!" , nobody goes. People don't like being told what to do, but they love solving puzzles. So GoSeek hands you this instead: "Small furry…

GoSeek is a mobile scavenger hunt game designed to get people outside by presenting them with riddles instead of direct instructions. The idea behind the app is that while people are usually reluctant to be told what to do, they enjoy solving puzzles. When presented with a riddle like "Small furry apex predator that domesticated itself, loves afternoon sunbeams, and leaves silent pawprints in the garden," users have to go outside and take a live photo to solve it.

The app only accepts photos taken directly within the app, preventing users from simply uploading existing images from their gallery.

Each round presents a riddle clue related to an everyday object found in the user's surroundings, such as a bench, a pigeon, or a manhole cover. By going outside and taking a photo, players can verify whether their image matches the described object. If the match is confirmed, the app rewards the user with points, updates their trophy gallery, and levels up their account from Wanderer to Explorer to Seeker to Trailblazer.

The difficulty of the objects varies, with urban items like street signs and power lines being easier to find and higher-reward nature finds like butterflies and pine cones being more challenging.

The app is targeted at anyone, particularly city dwellers, who may not have access to vast outdoor spaces. The interface is minimalist, requiring users to simply read the riddle, walk to the object, snap a photo, and confirm the match. The demo can be accessed at goseek.ai.studio, and the code is available on GitHub under the username 0shuvo0 / goseek.

An outbox preserves notification intent; delivery deduplication is a separate boundary

Saving a record before calling a notification API leaves a gap where execution can stop. The data exists, but there is no record that a notification was required.

  • Outbox pattern stores business data and message event in the same database transaction
  • Consumer can start delivering notifications independently from business creation
  • Deduplication mechanism required to prevent duplicate deliveries

Healthcare Appointment Retrieval Architecture for Fresh, Traceable Appointment Answers

Short answer: for a healthcare appointment assistant, this retrieval architecture uses staged search, explicit ranking signals, bounded queries, and traceable appointment source context.

  • Staged search, explicit ranking, bounded queries, and traceable context
  • Prioritizes hard gates: tenant, locale, appointment type, effective date
  • Freshness lower than validity, scope, semantic score, evidence quality
