Outside looking in, Vero Beach believes its best volleyball is still ahead
Vero Beach volleyball enters next week's district tournament on a roll with five consecutive wins.
Vero Beach High School's girls volleyball team, which ended its regular season without a guaranteed spot in the postseason, secured a 3-0 sweep over Melbourne on Tuesday night. Coach Heather Magelssen highlighted the team's recent improvement and the seniors' emotional significance of the match. The team's strong performance was highlighted by Madi Gravlee's 19 kills, 6 digs, 4 aces, and 2 blocks, along with Juliet Bolen's 19 assists.
Despite ranking ninth in Region 3-6A, Vero Beach's chances of making the playoffs hinge on winning their district or securing an at-large berth, as they trail Wiregrass Ranch by nearly two points. The team remains focused on controlling their play in practice and on the court, with captains Madi Gravlee and Yahya Johnson leading the charge.
