Nana Akua’s husband will be arraigned after hospital discharge – Police

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into allegations of physical, emotional, and economic abuse against Nana Akua, a popular local figure, and her husband, Harold Norman. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) received a complaint from Rosemond Akua Adobea on August 20, stating that her husband had mistreated her.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a similar case had been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026. Following the complaint, Harold Norman was arrested on August 27 to aid in the investigation. A caution statement was obtained from him, and he was released on bail with two sureties on August 29 while the investigation continued.

The suspect was supposed to appear in court on October 7 but informed investigators that he had been hospitalized and was unable to attend. Police investigators have visited the hospital to confirm this claim. They are monitoring the situation to ensure that the suspect is arraigned immediately after his release. The CID is collaborating with the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection to offer social welfare services for Nana Akua and her children.
