K-books push deeper into global market at Frankfurt Book Fair

Korean publishers are making significant strides in the global market during this week's Frankfurt Book Fair. A total of 15 companies are presenting rights deals and strategizing to turn book titles into worldwide, multimedia intellectual property. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with the Korea Publication Industry Promotion Agency, have set up an export consultation area at Frankfurt Book Fair between Wednesday and Sunday in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Spanning 120 square meters, the space showcases publishers such as Munhakdongne, Pinkfong, Munpia, Mirae N, Book21, and Changbi. These publishers represent various genres, including literature, picture books, and web novels, all while connecting Korean rights holders with foreign publishers and agencies.

In addition to the 15 participating publishers, the fair will also display 103 titles from publishers who are unable to attend in person. Professional agencies are managing consultations and follow-up discussions, with the aim of converting promising talks into actual contracts.

A separate 30-square-meter booth is dedicated to highlighting 89 titles from 20 publishers and agencies. This booth is part of the new K-Book Global 100 program, which focuses on supporting translation and overseas marketing tailored to individual markets and languages.
