Jordanian-American woman's body identified after being thrown from Texas bridge

The body of Jordanian-American flight attendant Rana Nofal Soluri, who went missing a year ago, has been identified after being found in a Texas river. The 47-year-old woman's remains were discovered by a fisherman under a bridge in Montague County, roughly 40 kilometers from Fort Worth. After her body was pulled from the water, DNA testing confirmed her identity at the University of North Texas Health Centre for Human Identification, according to police.

Ms. Soluri worked for a subsidiary of American Airlines. She was reported missing in March 2024 after failing to return to work following medical leave. Her roommate, Dennis William Day, 67, was arrested and charged with her murder in June. Day confessed to killing her and throwing her body off a bridge, stating that he had "snapped" during an argument with Soluri, as reported in a warrant.

Home video from Day’s residence allegedly showed him dragging what appeared to be a body from the house into the backyard on March 21, 2024. Day is currently awaiting trial. An inadvertent call and voicemail on another woman’s phone appeared to capture Day asking for assistance in moving the body, leading to Joni Thomas being arrested on charges of tampering with evidence.

Soluri's sister, Nez, described the months following her sister's disappearance as "torture". She recalled her sister as a proud Jordanian-Palestinian woman with a "firecracker" personality, despite her petite frame. A GoFundMe page has been established to help Ms. Soluri's daughter, Lulu, cover burial costs and other expenses related to her mother's passing.
