As polling data continues to suggest a strong performance for Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections, Jimmy Fallon took a lighthearted jab at how Republicans are predicting the outcome. During his Tuesday night monologue, the NBC host highlighted the alarming predictions made by the GOP. "The midterms are less than a month away, and Republicans are saying the election is a five-alarm fire, catastrophic, and the bottom is falling out," Fallon observed.
He quipped that this kind of dire prognosis sounded like the three stages one would go through if they appeared on "Hot Ones." Fallon then turned his attention to the struggles of Trump supporters in the media, who were apparently finding it difficult to spin the unfavorable outlook. "Even Fox News was like, 'We're giving it all we got, Captain.
We can't spin it anymore!'" Fallon joked, adopting a Scottish accent. He also highlighted President Trump's current approval ratings, which Fallon described as "somewhere between three-minute Hulu ads and getting raisins on Halloween." Finally, Fallon playfully commented on Trump's latest demand for journalists to be arrested for unfavorable coverage, saying, "Reporters aren't worried.
They're like, 'If we can sit through a 2-hour Trump speech, we can handle prison. Yeah, we're good.'" Watch the full monologue in the video above.
