On January 6, 2021, Yvonne St. Cyr participated in the Capitol insurrection and has been incarcerated since, awaiting justice and compensation. She was sentenced to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release, with a fine exceeding $3,000. Despite being promised $2,270 reimbursement for her restitution payments by the Trump administration, St. Cyr feels she is owed more, stating, "It’s been devastating.
People lost their businesses, divorces happened." On "The Daily Show," host Jordan Klepper discussed her feelings with St. Cyr, who responded with, "From what I’m hearing, it sounds like you guys were the victims of Jan. 6. It’s still a little bit bonkers to me." Klepper also interviewed Democratic Representative Joseph Morelle, who expressed skepticism about compensating rioters who committed crimes against the country.
When asked if St. Cyr would relive her experience, she confidently replied, "Absolutely," suggesting their potential reunion in 2028.
