I’m Building a Small Civilization of AI Agents
I've been experimenting with a slightly unusual idea: what if, instead of asking one AI to do everything, I gave different AI agents different jobs? That's how my AI Civilization project started. The basic idea is pretty simple. I want several small agents working together, with each one responsible for a particular part of a task. For example, one agent can search for opportunities. Another can…
A unique concept is emerging in the world of AI development: constructing a miniature civilization comprised of AI agents, each assigned with a specific task. The driving force behind this project is the desire to delegate various responsibilities to multiple AI agents, similar to running a small company with software-based employees.
While employing a single AI model has yielded promising results, the complexity escalates when dealing with extensive tasks. In other words, managing numerous aspects of a task within one AI prompt can quickly become convoluted.
The project's workflow is as follows: Scout → Researcher → Writer → Worker → Quality Checker. The Scout searches for opportunities, the Researcher evaluates their worth, the Writer prepares the content or application, the Worker organizes everything, and finally, the Quality Checker ensures there are no glaring errors. Currently, there remains a human overseeing the end product. This approach allows for human oversight, despite the numerous challenges encountered along the way.
Unearthing viable opportunities has proven to be one of the most difficult aspects of the project. With countless job boards and websites promising remote work opportunities, the real challenge lies in identifying genuine openings that match the individual's location, skill set, and relevance. An early version of the system was prone to identifying generic phrases like "10 Best Remote AI Jobs," but this approach did not yield accurate job listings.
Switching to structured job listings proved to be a game-changer, significantly improving the outcomes.
Another realization made during the development process is that AI-generated content can be misleading if it attempts to fill in gaps without proper verification. For instance, an AI application writer should not assume a person possesses certain skills or experiences without concrete evidence. To counter this issue, the system is currently utilizing a simple profile containing verified information about the user.
This profile enables the Writer to create tailored applications based on accurate information, while any missing details are clearly marked as such. Although this concept seems self-evident, its importance cannot be overstated.
Looking ahead, the goal of the project is to gradually expand the AI civilization to handle a broader range of tasks, including research, content creation, data tasks, software-related work, and other digital services. However, the primary objective at the moment is to ensure that the basic system can generate useful results. Success in this endeavor would not only provide a functional demonstration but also pave the way for a system capable of learning from the real world.
This project aims to be more than just a display of technological prowess; it seeks to create a foundation for an AI-driven workforce that can adapt and evolve with the changing demands of the digital landscape.
