Getaway Car Used In Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader Pradeep Purnekar’s Murder Recovered From Kalamboli

The getaway vehicle used in the murder of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar has been recovered by the Thane police from Kalamboli in Panvel. The incident unfolded on September 29 when Purnekar was brutally killed at his office around 9:30 PM. Thane police have apprehended three suspects - Pappa Shinde, Nikhil Yadav, and Nitesh Pawar - in connection with the crime.

According to Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Salvi, the seized car did not belong to the main culprits but was borrowed by accused Subhash Shinde (alias Pappa) from a friend on Anant Chaturdashi (September 25). Pappa claimed he needed the vehicle for Ganesh visarjan. However, he failed to return the car to its owner. On the day of Purnekar's murder, the car's owner urgently requested its return as he needed to travel to Ulhasnagar. Instead of returning the vehicle, Pappa used it to help the four suspects escape the crime scene.

Police traced the vehicle's extensive route from Thane to Katai, Badlapur, and Karjat before reaching Panvel. The suspects were planning to flee toward Goa. A special investigative team located the abandoned car on Tuesday night, parked on the road in front of a hospital in Kalamboli. It appears the vehicle ran out of fuel and the occupants lacked the money to refill it. The suspects abandoned the car on the road and fled.

The investigation has exposed how Pappa Shinde's actions in the murder not only implicated him in a high-profile political crime but also led to his friend facing severe legal trouble.
