From clicks to process, automatically - I built Sevenda

Documenting a process is one of those tasks everyone needs and nobody enjoys. You know the flow — the checkout, the onboarding, the backoffice approval — because you run it every day. But turning that into a clean BPMN diagram means stopping, reconstructing every step from memory, and dragging boxes around for an hour. So I built Sevenda : a Chrome extension that watches you do the flow once and…

Documenting business processes is a task that everyone experiences but nobody enjoys. The repetitive steps, such as checkout, onboarding, and backoffice approval, are familiar to those who carry them out daily. However, converting this flow into a clean BPMN diagram demands stopping, reconstructing every step from memory, and dragging boxes around for an hour. To simplify this process, I created Sevenda: a Chrome extension that records a browser session and generates a BPMN 2.0 process diagram using Claude.

Sevenda operates as a DevTools panel, seamlessly integrated next to the application being documented. Upon opening the Sevenda panel and initiating the recording, users navigate through their flow as usual. The extension then sends the captured session to Claude, which constructs the BPMN diagram. Once generated, users can export the standard .bpmn file, which can be opened in any BPMN tool, alongside an editable diagram directly within the panel.

The extension also provides GA4/GTM analytics insights, offering valuable analytics on tracking and events fired across the flow. The diagrams produced by Sevenda are of analyst-grade quality, featuring multi-pool, named message flows, send/receive typing for exchanges between participants, and annotations outside the swimlanes. Users can bring their own Anthropic key (BYOK) for session and inference control, ensuring data privacy and cost-efficiency.

Sevenda supports multiple languages, including English, Italian, Spanish, and French, allowing users to separate the UI and generated documents' language from the interface language. Designed for business analysts, QA engineers, product people, consultants, and developers, Sevenda streamlines the process documentation experience. It is available on the Chrome Web Store, with paid plans offering separate BPMN and Insights modes. Give Sevenda a try at sevenda.dev, and let me know which process you'd like to document next.

  • Three small SaaS options evaluated: Datadog, Better Stack/Logtail, Axiom, Loki
  • Four metrics measured: signal quality, investigation time, ingestion amplification, operator effort
  • Evaluation set of ten cases: tagging failures, retry storms, timeouts, malformed input
