The Friends of Sissala East Member of Parliament, Issah Mohammed Bataglia, have donated a modern delivery bed to the Tumu Municipal Hospital to enhance maternal healthcare delivery in the region. This donation is part of an initiative undertaken by the group during a visit to the facility, where they inspected various units including the delivery room and operating theatre.
The team raised concerns about insufficient privacy for expectant mothers during delivery, which led to the group pledging funds to address the issue and improve the delivery room conditions. Mr. Pham Johnson, the Head of Pharmacy at the hospital, expressed gratitude to the donors for their intervention and assured the group that the donated delivery bed would be well-maintained and effectively utilized to improve healthcare services at the facility.
The hospital, however, requested additional support for the establishment of a children's ward and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as the procurement of a phototherapy machine and an X-ray machine to bolster its healthcare capabilities. Additionally, the Bataglia Educational Support Scheme (BESS) has been providing educational assistance to schools in Banu, Bassisan, and Pina within the Sissala East Municipality.
In Banu, the scheme distributed 94 dual desks, along with New Curriculum textbooks, learning materials for various age groups, exercise books, pens, and other educational resources. Similarly, the Bassisan School received textbooks, kindergarten materials, exercise books, mathematical sets, and other learning resources. Pina received two sets of New Curriculum textbooks covering all subjects, along with exercise books, mathematical sets, pens, and other essential educational materials.
These donations were presented to the respective schools and communities through representatives of the Ghana Education Service (GES), with the aim of supporting teaching and learning and improving access to basic educational resources in the beneficiary communities.
