Borivali Hotel Extortion: 2 Women Held For Allegedly Taking ₹1 Lakh, Demanding ₹6 Lakh More Over Rat-In-Dosa Video

Mumbai police have registered a case against Manasi Achary, 36, and Kinjal Bhatia, 29, for attempting to extort money from hotel owner Jay Shah. According to the FIR, Achary visited the Radhakrishna Hotel Banquet Fast Food in Borivali on September 24 with a child and two men. After ordering food, one of the men, identified as Amit Trivedi, found a dead rat in a Mysore masala dosa and began vomiting.

Trivedi then called the police and recorded a video, which subsequently went viral on social media. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) subsequently suspended the hotel's license on September 28.

Jay Shah, the hotel owner, alleged that he received threatening calls demanding apologies on social media. On September 30, Achary called Shah and threatened to file an FIR and shared the video if Shah did not pay the demanded amount of Rs1 lakh. Shah initially agreed to pay Rs1 lakh, but the accused subsequently demanded additional amounts, starting from Rs6 lakh.

The negotiations reduced the amount to Rs7 lakh by October 5. On the same day, after Shah agreed to pay the remaining amount, the police set a trap and arrested Achary and Bhatia.
