ANDY AMEY: Conference champions on the line

If home-field advantage is a factor in high school football, the Sagamore Conference could be awarding its second or third title in as many weeks. Terre Haute North boys tennis has been crowned Vigo County's first Sagamore champion, while Terre Haute South has claimed victory in flag football against conference opponents. Danville and McCutcheon both boast 3-0 conference records, with the Warriors set to travel to McCutcheon on Friday.

However, South Putnam could secure the Western Indiana Conference championship with a win in Owen Valley.

Parke Heritage needs a victory over Riverton Parke to claim the Wabash River Conference title, while Lebanon is predicted to emerge victorious against Lebanon. The Little Illini Conference remains a battle for second place, involving six teams, with Mt. Carmel leading the pack. Additionally, the IHSA's expansion of playoffs this year has resulted in two teams — Paris and Newton — already qualifying for the postseason, with four others having a realistic chance.

On a more positive note, Dugger Union has gone undefeated this season, which could make for memorable stories during future class reunions.
