Dr Sokonte Davies, a governorship aspirant from the African Democratic Congress in Rivers State, has joined the Rainbow Coalition led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, were staunch supporters of Davies. The news of Davies' decision to align with Wike's coalition was shared by Wike's media aide, Lere Olayinka, on social media.
Davies, a former House of Representatives member, had been a strong supporter of Atiku Abubakar's presidential bid. Wike, who has been in Rivers State for around a week, has been meeting with various political leaders in the state to bolster support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. The political landscape in Rivers State is undergoing realignment as the general elections approach.
