33 Illegal Water Connections Cut In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

In the drought-stricken region of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the Municipal Corporation's Civic Friend squad has taken action against illegal water connections. On Monday and Tuesday, officers conducted patrols in Aref Colony and Hilal Colony, where they fined two residents a total of ₹15,000 for wasting water. Meanwhile, a special squad from the Municipal Corporation disconnected 33 unauthorized water connections in Nagsen Colony, Roshan Gate, and Asifiya Colony.

The illegal connections had been obtained from a 200 mm-diameter main water pipeline. Engineers Rohit Ingle and Sachin Veldode were responsible for the operation. The Municipal Corporation had previously appealed to citizens to install proper taps on their water connections to combat the issue of water wastage. In addition to the water connection crackdown, fines of ₹10,000 and ₹5,000 were collected from residents Azhar Kadil and Shaikh Atik, respectively, for releasing tap water onto the street. These enforcement actions were carried out under the guidance of Deputy Engineer Milind Bhamre.
