Golden State Warriors star Kristaps Porzingis is not expected to play for the team during the 2026-27 NBA season due to a persistent health issue. The Latvian forward, who was previously traded by the Atlanta Hawks, was not with the Warriors during their preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Coach Steve Kerr stated that he has not seen Porzingis yet, but believes the big man will be around the Bay Area.
Porzingis, a one-time All-Star, is crucial for the Warriors' defensive presence with his 7-foot-2 frame and is also a capable scorer from beyond the arc, shooting 36.4% in his career. The team is currently dealing with other injuries as well, including Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody, and Al Horford, who missed a game due to a left knee contusion.
Despite these setbacks, Porzingis has expressed his love for the Warriors and acknowledged that his return is not a guarantee.
