Zara Qairina's stepsister recounts Facebook argument in court
KOTA KINABALU: The late Zara Qairina Mahathir’s stepsister revealed five screenshots of a Facebook argument she had with her stepmother, Noraidah Lamat.
In Kota Kinabalu, the stepsister of Zara Qairina Mahathir testified about a Facebook argument she had with her stepmother, Noraidah Lamat. Malianah Mahathir, 25, shared five screenshots of the argument she received from her father, Mahathir Mohd Hashim, when she was 13. Her father had taken the screenshots after the argument and sent them to her.
Malianah admitted to assuming her father created the Facebook account because he had also created accounts for her and her three siblings. She was certain the messages were written by Noraidah, based on her experience living with her stepmother, who often used certain words. Zara was found unconscious on July 16, 2025, and died the next day. Five minors were charged with using insulting words against Zara, and the case is ongoing.
