University of Alicante Launches First AI Course for Healthcare Management in Torrevieja

The University of Alicante has inaugurated its inaugural course focused on the practical implementation of artificial intelligence within healthcare management at its newly established inter-university center in Torrevieja. This program is an integral part of the GESTAS initiative, a continuous educational platform centered on healthcare management and applied health technology. The course was designed after discussions with Torrevieja University Hospital, Quirónsalud Torrevieja, and the Torrevieja City Council.

The curriculum aims to equip participants with the skills to utilize AI tools for enhancing decision-making in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, primary care, social services, public administration, and private healthcare entities. Delivered by university experts in computer engineering and health sciences, alongside healthcare professionals, the training blends traditional classroom instruction with online modules.

Participants who successfully complete the course will earn 40 hours of university instruction and four ECTS credits.

Classes are scheduled to run from October 20th to November 19th, from 4pm to 8pm. Tuesday sessions will be conducted in person at the University of Alicante's Torrevieja headquarters in the AGAMED Inter-University Centre, while Thursday classes will be held via live online sessions. The course fee is set at €150; however, collaborating organizations may nominate up to five professionals to attend at no cost. Pre-registration is still open until October 18th, 2026.
