Qatar-US-Iran diplomatic efforts ongoing: MoFA

Doha, Qatar - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar has reported that mediation efforts between the United States and Iran are ongoing, according to the Director of the Media and Communication Department, Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hashmi. These negotiations seek to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome, addressing all concerns for both nations.

During a weekly media briefing, Al Hashmi confirmed that messages are being exchanged between Washington and Tehran via Qatar, which is acting as a mediator in the talks. He stressed that reaching a resolution necessitates exploring all negotiable options while considering the viewpoints of all parties involved.

Al Hashmi clarified that the issue of Iranian pilots has been addressed by Qatar, with the Iranian side informed of the latest developments. He expressed openness to an Iranian delegation visiting Qatar to discuss the measures taken in this regard.

On regional developments, Al Hashmi highlighted Qatar's support for initiatives aimed at enhancing regional security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, including the "Mecca Pact." This alliance bolsters cooperation among regional states to maintain capabilities and ensure stability.

He reaffirmed Qatar's backing for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all security-related measures. Qatar also condemns the Houthi group's actions targeting Saudi Arabia, holy sites, and civilian facilities, supporting the Kingdom in safeguarding its security and territorial integrity. Al Hashmi cautioned against premature discussions on Qatar's potential membership in the "Mecca Pact."
