Portugal's João Cancelo has voiced his opinion on Cristiano Ronaldo's potential return to the national team ahead of the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals. This comes amidst internal conflicts involving Ronaldo and manager Jorge Jesus. Cancelo's team managed to pull off a 2-1 victory over Norway by equalizing with a long-range goal from him in the 38th minute, later followed by a goal from Gonçalo Ramos in the 79th minute.
Cancelo, satisfied with the result and his performance, directly addressed the possibility of Ronaldo's return. He stated that this matter would be handled by the coaching staff and president Pedro Proença of the Portuguese Football Federation. However, he emphasized Ronaldo's importance, noting that he is Portugal's captain and the best player in the country's history.
Cancelo cited previous wins as the key focus, stating that the team's performance, including Ronaldo's, was exceptional. He concluded by saying that it's time to celebrate the success and look forward to their next match in November.
