No evidence I won 2023 election – Peter Obi

In an interview with BBC Africa, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, stated that there is no evidence to support his claim of winning the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party. When questioned for proof to back his assertion, Obi reiterated, "There’s no evidence. Everything is not based on evidence."

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared the winner of the polls. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, trailed in second place, while Obi secured the third position. It was previously mentioned that both Obi and Atiku contested the election outcome in the Presidential Election Petition Court, but their appeals were rejected. The Supreme Court later confirmed Tinubu’s victory.

During the BBC interview, Obi also discussed his stance on fuel subsidy, asserting that his position had remained unchanged despite criticism suggesting his views on the matter had evolved.
