Pennsylvania's Department of Health announced 1,004 confirmed measles cases in 39 counties as of October 1st in 2026, with five deaths attributed to measles.

The order expands the pool of health professionals authorized to administer the measles vaccine. The state also launched a Measles Dashboard, an online platform providing updated information on measles cases to help the public and healthcare workers monitor local risks and raise awareness. The emergency order is in effect until November 4th, according to the New York State government.

Vaccination rates among preschool children in the U.S. have declined in recent years to 92.4% in the 2025-2026 school year, below the target of 95%, with lower rates recorded in some communities, according to the CDC.
