New York, New York - The New York Mets have announced they are making significant coaching changes following a disappointing 2026 season. Three figures, Jeff Albert, Danny Barnes, and Kevin Mahoney, will not continue in their major league roles next season. Albert, who joined the Mets in 2022 as the Director of Hitting Development, left his role in October 2025.
Barnes, a former pitcher for the Blue Jays, was with the Mets from 2022 to 2026, serving as a major league assistant coach and Quality Assurance Coach. Mahoney, a Batting Practice Pitcher, served with the Mets for two years prior to 2026. Despite showing openness to the trio returning in different capacities, the Mets are also prepared to explore opportunities with other teams.
