Medeama coach Tanko praises players after hard-fought Debibi win

Medeama SC's coach, Tanko Ibrahim, commended his team's performance in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Debibi United in the Ghana Premier League. Despite facing a number of injuries, the team managed to secure all three points. "We have a lot of injured players, but those who started today showed good character, and to win here is very important," Tanko stated after the match.

This win moved Medeama to the top of the league table. Tanko emphasized that his team is focusing on one match at a time as they aim to retain their title. "We are taking it one game at a time. Hopefully, if we win more games, we can retain the league title, and that is what we intend to do," he added. The coach also mentioned that the team's busy schedule since their exit from the CAF Champions League had led to fatigue among the players.

Medeama had been on the road throughout this period, and the coach assured that the squad would be given a short break to recover before preparations for their next fixture. Tanko praised the players for their effort and thanked the club's supporters for their backing, highlighting the challenge of securing victories away from home.

Nana Kwasi Barbel, who scored the decisive goal, explained that Medeama approaches every match with a winning mentality. "We approach every game with a winning mentality, so I am not surprised that we were able to win at Debibi," Barbel said. The forward, who has had limited playing time this season, expressed that scoring the winning goal provided him with a much-needed confidence boost.

Medeama's victory places them at the top of the Ghana Premier League standings, and they will face Hearts of Oak in their Matchday 6 fixture.
