In 2017, Lionel Messi and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo held a memorable wedding in their hometown of Rosario, Argentina. The celebration, which took place at the City Center Hotel-Casino, drew around 260 guests, including Messi's Barcelona teammates and fellow football stars such as Gerard Pique, Shakira, Luis Suarez, Neymar, Sergio Busquets, and Xavi.

The couple's unique twist on traditional wedding etiquette was to request their guests donate money to the Techo organization, which builds emergency houses for families in Argentina. This generous request resulted in a total donation of $11,386 (Dh 41,815), which helped construct 10 emergency homes. Despite the star-studded guest list, some might have found the donation amount underwhelming, considering the wealth of the invitees.

The wedding itself was a blend of luxury and simplicity, with the ceremony and reception hosted at the opulent hotel and casino. The couple ensured the safety of their star-studded guest list by employing around 300 police officers and private security personnel. Antonela Roccuzzo wore a stunning custom gown designed by Spanish designer Rosa Clara, who has also dressed actress Eva Longoria and Spain's Queen Letizia.

The menu offered guests a fusion of Spanish, Argentine, and Japanese flavors, featuring traditional Argentine dishes like empanadas and a variety of beef preparations. As the celebrations extended into the early hours, guests enjoyed live music and dancing. The couple, who had known each other since childhood, have been together for nearly a decade and now have three children, residing in Miami.
