Kwale County acquires new equipment to boost road infrastructure

Kwale County has procured new road equipment to expedite infrastructure development and repair works throughout the region. Governor Fatuma Achani and her deputy, Chirema Kombo, inaugurated two new shovels at the County Headquarters, which will complement the county's current fleet and aid in the grading and restoration of roads that have become impassable.

Currently, the county possesses six graders, one roller, two dozers, one back truck, two excavators, four lorries, and three shovels. Governor Achani emphasized during the official launch at the County Headquarters that the county government is ramping up efforts to acquire its own machinery to ensure that tasks are executed proficiently.

"Previously, we relied on the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF), which is no longer forthcoming. Therefore, it is crucial to possess our own machinery to enable us to grade our roads," she stated.

Deputy Governor Chirema Kombo assured residents that Achani's administration remains dedicated to delivering high-quality road infrastructure, which is crucial for enhancing livelihoods. "If the detractors inquire about what Achani has accomplished, present them with the projects and the actions the government is undertaking so they have no reason to oppose the government," he remarked.

MCA Mwaboza Mwachuo from the ruling party commended the county government for its endeavors, noting that roads previously rendered impassable will once again become accessible post-rehabilitation. This will facilitate smoother transportation.
