Jeju Air, the Korean low-cost carrier, is expanding its China route network this winter, according to a statement released Tuesday. The airline has secured traffic rights to launch new services from Incheon to Beijing and Changsha, it said.
Jeju Air was granted traffic rights for seven weekly Incheon-Beijing flights and four weekly Incheon-Changsha flights in September, the company added. In April, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport awarded additional rights to operate five other routes: Busan-Guilin, Busan-Shanghai, Daegu-Shanghai, Jeju-Chengdu, and Jeju-Chongqing. These allocations enable Jeju Air to serve a total of 13 Chinese cities, the most among Korean low-cost carriers, the airline claimed.
Currently, Jeju Air operates 14 China routes, including non-scheduled services. Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, serves as a gateway to Zhangjiajie, a mountainous region renowned for its sandstone pillars. However, the company did not disclose when the Beijing and Changsha flights from Incheon will commence operations.
Jeju Air's winter schedule commences on October 25. During this period, the number of Busan-Shanghai flights will increase from four per week.
