Google AI Edge Foresight for Mac turns scribbles into full notes using offline recordings

Google has unveiled an innovative AI-powered notetaking application called Google AI Edge Foresight for Mac. This app utilizes the EmbeddingGemma 2 model, designed to "organize, search, and connect information directly on consumer hardware." To demonstrate its potential, Google developed the AI Edge Foresight Mac app for intelligent note-taking.

EmbeddingGemma 2, a 740 million parameter model, is built on the Gemma 4 architecture and is available under an Apache 2.0 license. This model is designed to run locally on devices with limited resources, requiring as little as 191MB active RAM for text-only weights and 567MB for the full multimodal model on a Google Pixel 11 Pro when quantized.

The app, showcased in Google AI Edge Gallery on Android and iOS, leverages the EmbeddingGemma 2 model to "enrich shorthand bullets into polished notes using the meeting transcript instantly." During meetings or video calls, users can simply "scribble shorthand bullets," and the app will process the transcript and audio entirely on the device, providing polished notes without the need for cloud processing.

In addition to transcribing meetings, the app allows users to point it to project folders, reference materials, diagrams, and calendar entries. This enables users to ask questions and quickly retrieve relevant information, with the app automatically understanding their work without the need for manual organization.

The chat feature offers conversational retrieval and summary, providing personalized knowledge retrieval. Google AI Edge Foresight also includes a Live Assistance capability that can "listen and automatically answer questions." This app joins Google's existing family of Mac apps, AI Edge Gallery and AI Edge Eloquent, which focuses on offline transcription.
