Flu and Covid jabs on the Costa del Sol: who can get vaccinated now, and who joins later this month

The 2026/27 flu and Covid vaccination campaign has kicked off across Andalucia, including on the Costa del Sol. The campaign opened on October 1, and additional groups are being added over the next three weeks. The same timetable applies to residents in Estepona, Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, and Torremolinos, as well as those further inland.

Initially, eligible groups include children aged six months to five years, children aged five to 17 with health conditions or risk factors, pregnant women, and teachers of children under five. Children aged three and four are offered the nasal flu vaccine at school. Care homes and disability centers were included on the first day, along with staff who care for them.

From October 7, the programme expands to people aged 80 and over, individuals requiring high dependency care at home and their carers, as well as healthcare and social-care professionals. People aged 70 and over can receive the flu vaccine starting October 14, while adults under 60 with specific health conditions or risk factors can join from October 21. In the final expansion on October 21, the flu jab will be available to everyone aged 60 and over.

Healthcare workers, police and security forces, firefighters, prison staff, and those exposed to animals from animals are included from the same date. For Covid vaccinations, the focus is on people aged 70 and over, care-home residents, and those with qualifying health conditions. The Junta plans to offer the high-dose flu vaccine to those aged 75 and above and the protein-based Covid vaccine Bimervax to care-home residents and people aged 12 and over with certain forms of immunosuppression.

Additionally, RSV vaccination will be provided to nursing-home residents and adults with severe immunosuppression later in the campaign.
