National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2026 kicked off in Ghana with a focus on fortifying the digital finance ecosystem, as the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) marked its fifth anniversary by urging institutions to foster stronger collaboration and cyber resilience. The campaign, held at the Cedi Conference Centre, University of Ghana, highlighted the rapid digital transformation of Ghana, which has spurred economic growth but also expanded cybercriminal opportunities.
CSA Director-General, Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti, emphasized that cybersecurity is a collective effort, urging government, regulators, financial institutions, fintechs, telecommunications companies, technology firms, law enforcement agencies, and cybersecurity service providers to work together to safeguard the nation's digital economy.
The urgency of the call was underscored by data from the national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), which recorded 3,876 cybersecurity incidents from January to July 2026, with online fraud accounting for nearly half of the incidents. Agbeti stressed that cyber risk should be treated as a business and national security issue, urging leaders to assume direct ownership of cyber risk and regularly assess their organizations' preparedness.
