Colonie basketball teammates Ella Trimarchi, Aliyah Pearson both heading to Mercy

Colonie basketball stars Ella Trimarchi and Aliyah Pearson have both chosen to continue their careers together at Mercy University. Trimarchi, a senior, recently verbally committed to Mercy, following in her teammate's footsteps who had committed in April. Both girls played together throughout their high school basketball careers at Colonie, winning the Class AA sectional title in 2024 and 2025.

Mercy head coach Scott Lagas' strong bond with the two players was a deciding factor in their final college decisions. Both Trimarchi and Pearson are excited about their upcoming season at Mercy, as they will be able to focus fully on their senior year without the stress of the recruiting process. Their shared commitment to the team's goal of winning the sectional title in their final year together is a key motivation for both players.
