Central Plains floods easing, risk moving South
Floods contiue to dominate parts of Bangkok and 27 provinces, mostly in the Central Plains, but the risk is moving southwards with the approach of the annual northeast monsoon.
The National Consumer Commission has initiated a recall of nearly 300 VW Amaroks manufactured during a specific period in South Africa. Volkswagen Group Africa (Pty) Ltd had notified the commission about the safety concern. As of now, the recall encompasses 291 vehicles sold across the country between June 2, 2026, and September 15, 2026.
According to Pheto Ntaba, the spokesperson for the commission, the issue lies in the deployment of curtain airbags during front or side impacts. The curtain airbag may not fully inflate because of contact with a component inside the vehicle's interior. Moreover, sharp-edged plastic parts might become dislodged or remain embedded in the airbag, potentially reducing the overall protection for the driver and front passenger.
The commission has advised vehicle owners to bring their affected Amaroks to any authorized Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealer, where the necessary replacements will be carried out free of charge.
