Baby Wave – “The Scene Is Changing”
Most of us over here dig Soccer Mommy, right? Now, try to imagine how Soccer Mommy's earlier records might've sounded if they had really big '90s-style fuzz-pop choruses. If that were to happen, you might get something like the new single from Baby Wave, a Nashville trio who just signed a brand new deal with Saddle Creek. Baby Wave, a Nashville trio, recently signed with Saddle Creek and are preparing to release a full-length album. The band, who formed at a 2021 Christmas party, has already released several singles and EPs, including the 2024 collaboration "Still Life" with Total Wife. Their new single, "The Scene Is Changing," is described as catchy, propulsive, and produced by Feeble Little Horse's Sebastian Kinsler.
Band leader Brooke said, "You can spend your entire life on the outside, feeling like you'll never belong." She describes the theme of the song as an ode to the ever-changing Nashville DIY scene, emphasizing how every scene has its highs and lows. The video for "The Scene Is Changing" was directed by Brooke and filmed at Ryman 2, a Nashville venue known for hosting house shows. The video features a cast of Nashville bands and characters, telling the story of an owl-man's adventure at a Baby Wave show.
Baby Wave's upcoming tour includes stops in El Paso, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., with a co-headlining show with Fcukers and Swapmeet.
