Anthropic expands Claude Startups program in bid to snag founders and fast-growing companies

On Tuesday, Anthropic announced an expansion of its Claude for Startups program. This initiative provides subsidized access to Anthropic's AI models and various other benefits for qualifying companies. Launched as part of Anthropic's SF Tech Week event, the new version of the program offers a free year of Claude Team, Anthropic's paid plan for groups, which includes up to five premium seats.

Additionally, startups will receive $1,000 in API credits to build with Claude and access to Claude Marketplace, enabling them to create plugins for the service. Furthermore, companies will have the opportunity to schedule virtual office hours with Anthropic's Applied AI team.

Anthropic's announcement states that the program was created because they believe the benefits of AI will primarily reach people through the companies that build upon the models rather than through the models themselves. The company's mission is closely aligned with partnering closely with founders and developers. To be eligible for the program, companies must have been founded within the last five years or have received funding in the past two years.
