4 Booked For Allegedly Misappropriating ₹1.18 Crore, 45-50 Tolas Gold Of Elderly Chembur Woman

The Chembur police have registered an FIR against four individuals for allegedly misappropriating ₹1.18 crore and 45-50 tolas of gold jewellery from an elderly woman, Kaushalya Hemantsing Nichani. The accused are Hans Advani, Dilip Advani, Komal Lalwani, and Pratima Advani. Nichani, who lived alone in a bungalow in Collector Colony, died on June 13 and had appointed Kalro, a real estate professional and relative, to pursue legal proceedings and recover amounts due to her.

The four accused allegedly befriended Nichani, facilitated the sale of her bungalow for around ₹1.96 crore, and obtained a power of attorney to operate her bank account and locker. After the sale, Nichani was shifted to Milt Apartments, and in 2011, the accused allegedly persuaded her to purchase flats in the Heera Paradine building using funds from her bank account.

Nichani kept around 45-50 tolas of gold jewellery in a Canara Bank locker, which Hans Advani allegedly used until 2022 and subsequently removed without her consent. The police allege that the accused misappropriated approximately ₹1.18 crore and 45-50 tolas of gold jewellery from Nichani, and are conducting a further investigation under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
