‘Whatever the personal cost, I will not abandon my duty’ – Baffour Awuah assures Salomey Bafoh

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the MP for Manhyia South, has pledged his unwavering commitment to defending Salomey Awiti Bafoh, a senior nursing officer, amid personal challenges he has encountered throughout the case. This stance was articulated following the Adentan Circuit Court's decision on October 5 to grant Ms. Bafoh bail, set at GH¢100,000 with two sureties. Ms. Bafoh is currently incarcerated, accused of participating in the dissemination of false news on social media.

In a Facebook post, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah reflected on the gravity of the case, emphasizing its personal significance. This case is not only about Ms. Bafoh but also because representing her has presented him with considerable difficulties. Despite these hurdles, he has maintained his resolve, driven by the conviction that a lawyer must never shy away from upholding a client's rights, even when the task becomes arduous or displeasing.

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah reiterated that while the bail ruling marks a significant milestone, his duty as her legal counsel remains steadfast. He stressed that "whatever the personal cost, I will not abandon my duty as a lawyer. Justice must be allowed to take its course." His primary focus now shifts to ensuring that Ms. Bafoh is afforded a fair trial and proper legal representation throughout the ongoing proceedings.
