Thai Enquirer News Summary – October 5, 2026

On October 5, 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul was granted another two terms in office during a birthday celebration for Newin Chidchob in Buriram, Thailand. The Prime Minister and his Cabinet members attended the event, which was scaled down due to ongoing flooding across the country. In response to Anutin's comment that he is "already bored" with being Prime Minister, Newin wished for Anutin to remain in the position for two more terms. The attendees included all key Cabinet members from the Bhumjai Thai party.

The organizer of the event announced that rather than presenting flowers or gifts, they encouraged well-wishers to donate to Buriram Hospital, which received contributions exceeding 6 million Baht. Media personnel were confined to designated areas outside Shiva 12 Park and the replica Phanom Rung Stone Castle, with traditional rituals, such as the Chidchob family's "Pa Kam Chang" elephant ritual, closed to press photography.

The People's Party criticized Prime Minister Anutin's attendance at the birthday celebration, as this was the first time they had done so in recent years. Veerayooth Kanchoochat, a party-list MP and Deputy Leader of the People's Party, posted on Facebook about the event on October 4, 2026. Despite the severe flooding affecting multiple provinces in Thailand, Anutin and his Cabinet members chose to attend the celebration in Buriram.

People's Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut stated that the Prime Minister had too many schedules to manage and needed to handle his own plans accordingly.
