Sri Lanka Insurance Life (SLIC Life) is offering parents a free Rs. 1 million life insurance cover for children born on World Children’s Day 2026. This is the fifth consecutive year the company has extended the initiative island-wide to all hospitals across the country. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of early financial planning for a child's future and to provide families with much-needed protection against life’s uncertainties.
Dr. Sameera Dharmasena, CEO of SLIC Life, stated that the initiative seeks to create awareness of the significance of planning ahead and how life insurance can safeguard families. The World Children’s Day programme, launched in 2022 as part of SLIC Life's CSR efforts, is a key component of the company's annual CSR calendar and reflects its commitment to children, families and communities.
Other ongoing CSR initiatives include the 'Pasal Piriyatha Surakimu' program, which has benefited over 3,365 underprivileged schools since 2007, and the 'Suba Pathum Scholarship Programme' that has awarded 2,425 scholarships valued at Rs. 265 million since 2014.
