Sharks chasing Stormers hat-trick as Bulls face Lions test in SA URC derby double
The Sharks and Lions head into the first SA derby weekend of the URC with momentum on their side, while the Stormers and Bulls will be desperate to bounce back.
The Sharks are leading the United Rugby Championship (URC) with a hat-trick of matches, following unbeaten performances in two matches. The Durban-based side has secured two bonus points, topping the league standings. With the return of their Springboks, the Sharks aim to claim their third consecutive win against the Stormers in the URC derby.
Currently, they boast 10 points after a 26-20 victory over Leinster. JP Pietersen's men will rely on their recent home success and the experienced additions to the backline, including captain André Esterhuizen and wingers Edwill van der Merwe and Ethan Hooker, to secure a win in their next match against the Stormers. The Stormers are eager to avenge their recent losses to the Sharks and maintain their winning momentum after a strong start against Connacht.
