Pune Road Rage: Man Attacks Mumbai-Bound MSRTC Bus In Chakan | WATCH

Pune: A road rage incident on Sunday afternoon in Chakan resulted in an MSRTC bus driver being assaulted with an iron rod and the bus sustaining damage. The incident occurred around 1.50 pm in front of Shreya Lawns on Chakan-Talegaon Road, within the Chakan Gaon limits of Khed tehsil. A video of the altercation went viral on social media.

It depicts a man arguing with people near the bus, wielding an iron rod and striking the MSRTC bus. The suspect, Anil Dafal, has been arrested. The court remanded him to police custody for three days on Monday under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The incident began when MSRTC bus driver Asif Shafi Patel, 47, was driving bus MH12BT4249 from Narayangaon ST Bus Depot toward Bori and Mumbai.

Upon reaching Chakan-Talegaon Road near Shreya Lawns, Patel allegedly honked his horn. The driver of a red Brezza, registration MH12PC9965, became enraged over the honking and stopped the car. Armed with an iron rod, the Brezza driver allegedly confronted Patel, abusing him and questioning his actions. Patel sustained an injury to his right arm from the rod's impact.

The Brezza driver also damaged the bus, smashing the front windscreen and damaging the door glass and window panes near seats 5 and 6. Another individual in the Brezza allegedly joined the confrontation, abusing the bus conductor and threatening to kill her. Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam confirmed Dafal's arrest, stating that the court granted a three-day Police Custody Remand.

Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident and are seeking additional information, as the viral video and witness statements may provide further insights into the escalation of the dispute into an assault and bus damage.
