Power and price cuts applied to Volvo XC60 and XC90 T8 ranges

Volvo has adjusted the power and price for the XC60 and XC90 T8 ranges, in preparation for the upcoming long-range plug-in hybrid versions. The existing partially electrified versions have been reconfigured, without altering the mild-hybrid variants. The main changes involve the powertrain, where the 2.0-litre Drive-E turbocharged petrol engine's output is reduced, while the electric motor's output is increased.

The combined power output drops from 340 kW to 299 kW, while torque remains at 709 Nm. The electric motor's claimed range is unchanged at 81 km for the XC60 and 84 km for the XC90. Both models continue to deliver all-wheel drive through the eight-speed Geartronic transmission. The long-range models will debut in 2027, featuring a larger 41.2-kWh battery and a more potent electric motor generating 130 kW.

In the XC60, the T6 variant will have a combined 262 kW, while the T8 will reach 340 kW, with EV-only ranges of 200 km and 189 km, respectively. For the XC90, the T8 variant maintains 340 kW, but the electric-only range is reduced to 164 km. The reshuffled "standard range" now includes the Core trim level, originally reserved for the mild-hybrid variants.

The Core slot is below the Plus trim, which becomes the mid-range option, and the Ultra, which remains the top-of-the-line grade. Prices for the revised XC60 and XC90 ranges are as follows: XC60 B5 Core AWD is priced at R1 058 400, the Plus AWD at R1 116 800, the Plus Black AWD at R1 146 300, the Ultra Black AWD at R1 307 255, and the T8 Core AWD at R1 280 000.

The T8 Plus AWD is priced at R1 460 800, the T8 Plus Black AWD at R1 490 800, the T8 Ultra AWD at R1 500 700, and the T8 Ultra Black AWD at R1 530 700. The XC90 B5 Plus AWD is priced at R1 555 500, the B5 Ultra AWD at R1 657 500, the T8 Core AWD at R1 585 000, the T8 Plus AWD at R1 834 500, the T8 Ultra AWD at R1 936 500, and the T8 Ultra Black AWD at R1 966 500.
