Pakistan’s top civil-military leadership to attend Makkah defence committee meeting today

Pakistan's top civil and military leadership, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, are set to attend a strategic trilateral security meeting in Riyadh today. The meeting, which will be attended by foreign ministers, defence ministers, and chiefs of general staff from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, is part of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

The agenda of the meeting includes reviewing regional developments and discussing ongoing trilateral cooperation under the Makkah Agreement. This comes a day after the leader of Yemen’s Saudi-backed government announced the commencement of a major military operation against the Houthis, which Pakistan's foreign minister has suggested could be addressed through political engagement.

The participation of Pakistan in this meeting underscores its commitment to promoting regional peace and stability.
