NDC congratulates new NPP executives, urges national interest above party interests

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended its congratulations to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful selection of their new national executives. In a statement released on Monday, October 5th, 2026, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey of the NDC expressed optimism that the new leadership will foster collaboration in Ghana's best interest.

The NDC emphasized the importance of placing national priorities ahead of individual party interests in a statement. "It is the fervent hope of the NDC that under the tenure of this new crop of executives, there will be mutual effort to ensure that the interest of Ghana always surpasses the narrow interest of the two respective parties," the statement declared.

The congratulatory message came after the NPP had recently elected their new national executives over the weekend. The NDC reiterated its dedication to peaceful political engagement and democratic values, stressing that safeguarding Ghana's democratic progress requires the collective responsibility of all political actors. "The NDC remains committed to the promotion of peaceful political engagement, democratic values, and the collective responsibility of all political actors to protect and deepen Ghana’s democratic gains," the party stated.

The NDC expressed hope that cooperation under the new NPP leadership would further the shared objective of making Ghana "great and strong."
