Metcalfe back in Wales WXV reckoning for Japan
Nel Metcalfe is in a 30-strong party that will be led by co-captains Alex Callender and Kate Williams for back-to-back Tests in Japan.
Full-back Nel Metcalfe has been selected for Wales' upcoming WXV matches against Japan, providing the team with an opportunity to revive her career. Metcalfe, a 21-year-old Gloucester-Hartpury player, has returned from a knee injury that previously kept her out of the 2026 Women's Six Nations. Wales head coach Sean Lynn named Metcalfe in his extended training squad following a WXV victory over South Africa and a loss to the United States.
However, Metcalfe did not make the final matchday squads. Lynn remains optimistic about the team's prospects, emphasizing the importance of learning from recent defeats and building upon the foundations they established during pre-season.
