Mayorkun to sign prenup, conduct DNA tests on his children for ‘peace of mind’

Nigerian singer Mayorkun has discussed his plans for marriage and fatherhood, stating his willingness to sign a prenuptial agreement and conduct DNA tests on any children born from a relationship. The 'Don't Be Late' performer explained that he is not doubting a future partner's loyalty, but rather wants peace of mind in an era where conversations about marriage, paternity, and financial security have evolved.

Mayorkun noted that love alone cannot eliminate all uncertainties that may arise when starting a family. He had previously talked about DNA testing with a past serious partner and said the request was a precaution, not an accusation of lack of trust. Comparing DNA testing to signing a prenup, Mayorkun argued that both measures are precautionary steps people can take before or during marriage to safeguard themselves from potential problems down the line.

He admitted that discussing DNA testing could be perceived negatively, especially by women who might view it as a lack of trust. However, he believes this conversation is becoming more relevant for men, given instances where fathers later found out their children were not biologically theirs. Mayorkun believes a DNA test can provide a definitive answer early on, preventing emotional and financial devastation that can occur after years of raising a child who is not biologically theirs.

While discreetly conducting the test might be the simplest approach to avoid conflict, he recognized such a decision could create problems if exposed. Regarding marriage, Mayorkun expressed openness to signing a prenup, viewing it as a practical way to handle modern relationships.
