Yemen's internationally-recognised government launched a major military campaign on Sunday to retake territory currently held by the Houthis, just a day before a high-level meeting of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey was set to begin in Riyadh. The offensive, aimed at reclaiming all areas currently under Houthi control, was announced by the head of Yemen's presidential council, Rashad al-Alimi.
Prior to the offensive, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar informed the media that the Makkah Defence Alliance's Strategic Political Defence Committee (SPDC) would focus on discussing the Houthis' attacks on Saudi Arabia.
