LeBron James sits out 76ers’ preseason opener against Knicks. Embiid, Maxey also out
Philadelphia 76ers head into their preseason opener against NBA champion New York Knicks with several key players sitting out due to injury. LeBron James and Joel Embiid are among the healthy inactives, while All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey also won't be playing due to illness. Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe are the only regular starters in the lineup.
The Sixers made a strong showing last season, finishing 45-37, but were swept in the second round of the playoffs by their opponents. LeBron James, a 22-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion, signed a free-agent deal with the Sixers over the summer.
