IXPN, the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria, is commemorating its 20th anniversary with a month-long programme focused on internet resilience and capacity-building. The event, themed "20 Years of Building Nigeria’s Internet," brings together various stakeholders to discuss the evolution of Nigeria's internet infrastructure and the skills required for its future growth.
The programme includes a Student Internet Infrastructure Discovery Programme, which will train about 100 students in ICT-related fields across the country's six geopolitical zones. Additionally, IXPN will collaborate with the Nigeria IPv6 Council and AFRINIC on an IPv6 capacity-building program for network operators, engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
The anniversary celebrations will also feature a women-focused Internet infrastructure forum to encourage greater participation from women in the sector, offering mentorship, professional certifications, internships, and technical training opportunities.
